How to get involved

You can volunteer

We’re a volunteer-led group and there’s always lots to help with, whatever your talents. To see what we’re doing that you may be able to help with, and to offer your support, please either:

  • Take a look at our Facebook page .
  • Join the BBS Chat WhatsApp group.  Contact the secretary to ask to be added to the group.
  • Email the Secretary if you have any specific questions via the contact us page.

What we need people to do

– for our bonfire night

There are always a lot of jobs to be done in the lead up to our night, on the day, and then for the clear up afterwards.  The secretary will email out to all members and use the WhatsApp BBS Chat group to communicate what needs to be done, so make sure you take up your membership early on in the bonfire season.

– fundraising during the year

There are many fundraising events throughout the year that will be advertised in the Barcombe News, at the village roundabout and on our other communication channels.  Just turn up and spend as much money as you can.  If you feel you can help with one of these fundraising activities, please do contact the Secretary via the contact us page.

– represent the society at other bonfire nights

Our society gets invites to march in other processions across Sussex.  There will be emails and WhatsApp messages about which processions other members will be attending.  Just respond to one of these messages, turn up at the designated time and place and join in the fun.  Note that most processions are by invite only and to march as a Barcombe society member, you need to be a current member wearing a membership badge.  Take a look at the membership page for more information on what you need to wear and do when you are in a procession.
